Autodarts
Automatic dart scoring, played online around the world. I built the infrastructure behind it, and I work across the product too.
- data points collected
- 3bn+
- of new data every month
- 100 GB
The project.
Autodarts turns a normal dartboard into a connected one: cameras detect each dart, the board scores itself, and players can play each other online. That means hardware in people’s homes, a platform that has to stay up while matches are being played, and data arriving all the time.
What I did.
I built the infrastructure from the ground up: Kubernetes deployments, monitoring, and incident management with incident.io. I run a database that grows by around 100 GB a month, ClickHouse for analytics, and the GPU servers our AI models run on, held together with tooling I wrote myself. It’s a small team, so I’ve also worked on firmware, streaming and product decisions.
The outcome.
A platform that keeps up with a fast-growing product, with the monitoring and incident process to spot problems and fix them quickly. Working on both the devices and the platform means I understand how a change in one affects the other.
